Hydration is Key

Staying hydrated is one of the most important parts of your day. The average adult human body is made up of 50-65% of your body. It’s recommended to drink an equivalent of 8 glasses of water a day so it doesn’t impact your daily routine. Drinking water provides the proper nutrients for your skin, muscle cells and detoxifies any toxins in the body.

In the gym, depending on how much water you drink, you will sweat more or less. When heading to the gym, a lot of people will bring water canteens in order to remain hydrated so that they stay consistent with their workout plan. Water is no doubt an energy booster that helps burn calories and burns fat.

If you don’t stay hydrated there are many issues that could impact your body. Some of these issues include fatigue, cramps, exhaustion, loss of balance and fainting. This shows weakness in your workouts and will slow you down. A way to track dehydration is seeing the color of your urine. Dark yellow urine means you are very dehydrated, while lighter yellow or  clear means you’re hydrated. Some occasions you may have to use the bathroom multiple times.

With that being said, it is important to drink the right amount of water, drinking too much water can lead to vomiting, muscle cramps, headaches, nausea and fatigue. Notice how these symptoms are similar to dehydration, yes you are drinking water but just like anything else, too much of one thing can be harmful for your body. Staying balanced with your hydration is very important.

Recipe: Cha Cha Cha Chia

How can something so small be so beneficial for us? Chia seeds are an underrated super food that people should start adding to their diets.

First off, what are they? Chia seeds are edible seeds from a plant that’s found native in Mexico. They are very tiny but also packed with many nutrients and antioxidants. Fun fact: They were actually used for medical purposes as well. These seeds are very high in fiber, contain many antioxidants, and can help with chronic diseases.

Chia seeds can go in anything, from smoothies, oatmeal and yogurt. They can also be used to add a crunchy texture to what you’re making. I personally started to add them to my overnight oats which I highly recommend if you would like to try something new. Below is the recipe!

- 1/2 cup rolled oats

- 1 tbsp chia seeds

- 3/4 milk (I use oat)

- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

- 1/2 tsp cinnamon

- 2 tsp maple syrup

- 1 tbsp yogurt (I prefer vanilla but Ig plain is fine)

- 1/2 peach diced ( or whatever fruit you prefer)

Stir all together and leave over night.

Enjoy!

Celsius Sparkling: The Newest Pre-Workout Drink

Celsius is a popular fitness drink that has gained a loyal following for its unique combination of ingredients and claimed benefits for weight loss and improved energy. Celsius comes in a variety of flavors and is marketed towards fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and anyone looking for a healthy beverage to support their active lifestyle.

One of the key ingredients in Celsius is a blend of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, Vitamin B, and Calcium. These vitamins and minerals are essential for overall health and well-being and are often depleted during exercise. By providing a dose of these nutrients, Celsius can help to replenish what is lost during physical activity, leading to increased energy levels and improved recovery.

Another key ingredient in Celsius is a proprietary blend of natural ingredients known as MetaPlus. This blend includes green tea extract, guarana seed extract, and ginger root, all of which have been shown to have thermogenic properties. Thermogenesis is the process by which the body generates heat and burns calories, making it an effective way to support weight loss efforts.

In addition to its thermogenic properties, Celsius also claims to improve focus and mental clarity. This is due to the inclusion of taurine, an amino acid that has been shown to have cognitive benefits, and caffeine, a stimulant that can help to increase alertness and concentration.

Celsius is also marketed as a healthy alternative to traditional energy drinks, which are often high in sugar and artificial ingredients. With only 10 calories per serving and no added sugar, Celsius is a low-calorie, natural beverage that can provide a healthy energy boost without the negative side effects associated with traditional energy drinks.

While more research is needed to fully understand the benefits of the ingredients in Celsius, the drink is a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts and anyone looking for a healthy, natural way to support their active lifestyle.

Fiber: The Forgotten Part of Nutrition

Nutrition is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. It’s the process of providing the body with the food and nutrients it needs to function properly. There are many distinct aspects of nutrition, including but not limited to, vitamins, minerals, water, and calories. A balanced diet is essential for good health.

Fiber:

Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that cannot be broken down and digested by the body. There are two types of fiber that are both beneficial. These are:

Soluble Fiber which absorbs water and slows down digestion helping the digestive system feel fuller longer and softens bowel excretions. Insoluble Fiber does not absorb water, but it provides waste to bulk up the bowel excretions to clear things out of the gut. You can get fiber from plant based foods such as legumes, fruits, vegetables, seeds or nuts.

Finding out How Much Fiber is Enough:

Nutritionists can help you figure out your daily optimum fiber intake. Alternatively, there are online calculators that will also help you find it as well. It is recommended that you eat 14 grams of fiber for every 1000 calories that is part of your daily intake.

Superfood Salmon: Health Benefits, Nutrition, and More

First off, what are “superfoods”? Super foods are defined as foods that have an exceptional amount of nutrient density. Having a good diet and eating habits is a key to living a healthy lifestyle and it helps in the long run for sure. Of course there are many out there, but if there’s one food that has been very popular right now, it would definitely have to be salmon.

Having a good diet and eating habits is a key to living a healthy lifestyle
— Raysean Hagins

Eating salmon has many benefits and it’s a go to for a lot of people. It’s pretty versatile and can go with a lot of different things. From sushi, to rice to pasta, you really can’t go wrong with it and it’s fairly simple to make in most recipes. It’s an excellent source of protein and is low in saturated fat. Salmon is also rich in other nutrients such as vitamin b12, potassium, iron and vitamin D to name a few. If you are a pescatarian, I would highly recommend you incorporate salmon into your diet. You wont regret it, you’ll thank yourself later.

My personal diet consists of mostly salmon. I eat other proteins like chicken and some red meats, but salmon has always been my go and needless to say, I don’t get tired of it.  Everyone has their favorites. Since I started my fitness journey about 2 years ago, I've cut out a lot of old habits and tried to increase my protein intake and eating. By changing my diet, it has made me feel much healthier overall. No matter if you strictly eat meat or are a vegetarian or vegan, if you aren’t eating right, you won’t see any progress, so it’s crucial that you watch what you eat!
